As of Jan 1, 2014, MCHA is closed to new enrollment for an effective date of Jan 1, 2014 or after.  MCHA will continue to accept applications for individuals eligible under “Health-Related Rejections” and eligible for a waiver of the six-month, pre-existing condition limitation for an effective date of coverage prior to Jan 1, 2014.

Required DocumentationYou must submit a notice of rejection (with the company’s name and dated within the past 6 months), or your insurance agent must complete the “Agent Certification of Health Related Rejection” section on the MCHA application.

(MCHA will only accept your application for coverage if you are eligible under this category and if the pre-existing condition limitation waiver is requested and approved.  The effective date of coverage will be backdated to the day following termination of prior coverage, and the effective date must be prior to Jan 1, 2014.  You are required to apply for coverage and the pre-existing condition limitation waiver within 90 days of terminations of your prior coverage (Mar 31, 2014).  MCHA will notify you if your applications has been approved or denied.)

MCHA to Close 12/31/14 Insurance companies can no longer deny you or charge you more because of your pre-existing health condition. As a result, the Minnesota Comprehensive Health Association is no longer accepting new enrollees (for a Jan. 1, 2014 effective date or later) and will close on December 31, 2014.
